DVD Review: Final Destination (2000)

One of the most original and best horror films of my generation.
This is the story of a dude (Devon Sawa) who can predict death and thus helps himself and five other people escape death in a plane crash, but then he realizes that death is stalking them, trying to complete its master plan.
Sawa is a good leading man, but Ali Larter outshines him as his girlfriend, the artistic, gothy type with a fucked up parental situation. Larter shows the potential she will put to good use years later on ‘Heroes’.
Kerr Smith is good and egomaniacal as the jock who doesn’t want to be told what to do. It is a strong step away from his role as Jack on ‘Dawson’s Creek’.
I first saw this film after midnight in a centuries old boarding house in England on a rainy night. It was terrifying then and it continues to startle now.
